Fantastical E.A.S.T. Display!

The East Austin Studio Tour 2010 was tons of fun! Thanks to everyone who came by the Studio Pod!  It was great to meet so many new, friendly faces.
We were very lucky this past weekend to have Steve and the Redheads stop by on Saturday to play us some classic blues... they jammed for hours!  And the Yiddish tunes of Mazel Tov Koctail Hour kept us peppy all Sunday afternoon with happy, gypsy folk music! Chef Laura West provided tasty vegan treats that kept our bellies happy all weekend long. Some favorites were the thai basil pesto spread, fresh hummus, and delectable Chai tea. Yum.

For all of those unable to come by, here's what ya missed from

Organic Specimens

All of these necklaces originally started as natural specimens I found and cast into metal.  Some were picked up off a beach in Costa Rica while others came from my garden!

I recently caught up with my long-time friend, Gamie K. who's an incredibly talented graphic designer.  This girl is such a natural, she can make anything look cool and interesting.

Check out her blog post about Margot Wolf Jewelry (and these organic necklaces):
And be sure to take a look at her adorable line of handmade greeting cards!   Each one is so cute and special.

E.A.S.T. Prep!

East Austin Studio Tour is right around the corner!  Nov. 13th - 14th and again Nov. 20th - 21st.

I am refining my collection, building displays, and putting together new jewelry in preparation for the 2 week event.

New rings to post very soon!

If you live in Austin, or somewhere close-by, I hope you can make it out to support our Studio Pod jewelry collective!

Working too fast!  ...But quickly breaking in these jeweler's hands... Ow!

It's all in the details.

The Studio Pod got all dolled up for our little party last weekend and I cannot express how in love I am with the space!  It took 4 tons of crushed glass to fill a pathway that extends all the way back, through the yard, to the entrance gate.  The vintage cargo parachute drapes across the patio to add a little shade and create an enclosed, cozy feeling when lounging outside the studio.  Loose ends were tied up, the hammock and hummingbird feeder were hung, and now all we have to do is sit and relax.  Ahh...

Launch Party at the "Studio Pod"

This past weekend I held a little soiree at the Studio Pod.  Friends and family were invited to come take a peek at my first themed jewelry collection!

Two tables were set up in the Studio Pod entrance with the Washed to Shore collection on full display.  My handmade necklace mobile (which you can partially see in photo) dangled necklaces with beachy clusters of charms.

Many of my pieces come directly from nature.  I have been experimenting a lot with casting organic specimens.  Here you see necklaces made from succulent leaves, berries pulled off a bush, and the roots of a plant!

Driftwood and obscure slabs of stones helped offset the jewelry.

The large center piece on the necklace in this photo is an actual stem from a banana tree cast into bronze!

Low lighting and candles helped create a relaxed atmosphere.
The sand was fun to play with and I sold several pieces!

Austin Fashion Week 2010

I launched my Fall 2010 jewelry collection this year during Austin Fashion Week.  I participated in a big event called Fashion in Flight which took place at the beautiful Mexican American Cultural Center.

The show featured designers from all over the country and supported the non-profit group Austin Pets Alive!, whose mission is to make Austin a no-kill city.   The runway show was well-balanced with a mix of day, evening, and formal wear.  Lots of interesting and unique styles strutted down the catwalk!
My jewelry was displayed on an acrylic table illuminated from underneath in lavender light.   We were located right up front next to the runway and rockin DJ Manolo Black.
My theme for the night was Washed to ShoreAll of the displays were either handmade or found objects I selected to give the feeling that everything, including the jewelry, could have been found somewhere lying in the sand.

Beachy, talisman necklaces were buried in an old rusty tray full of beach pebbles amongst a variety of bottles, shells, and large coral pieces.  Rings were displayed atop driftwood and vintage boat pullies.  It was a fun and successful night!
